Mary Viriginia Harper and Langston McElroy “did the dang thing,” as Langston put it, on June 23, 2018 at The Chapel at The Waters in Pike Road, Alabama! Mary Virginia was my high school mentee, and she and Langston are two of the most selfless and caring people I’ve ever met. They truly are such genuinely beautiful people—both inside and out. In fact, I could tell that their family and friends would do anything for them, because they’re the type of people who would drop everything without hesitation for their loved ones. Throughout their wedding day they put the needs of others before themselves: Mary Virginia curled a couple of bridesmaids’ hair while she was getting her own hair done, she walked down the aisle without shoes to help a flower girl feel better about being barefoot, and they both continuously checked on me and my second shooter to make sure we were well fed and comfortable (and there are countless other examples). Their attitudes on their wedding day were a testament to the kind of people they are in their every day lives! Even on their special day they made sure everyone else felt pampered and valued, and I couldn’t be more grateful, humbled, and inspired to be in the presence of such grace!
Mary Virginia and Langston were such a dream to work with, so I wasn't surprised that all of their photos were so effortlessly magical! The interior of the chapel was so perfectly decorated with greenery and dusky-lavender pops of color, and the outside of the chapel itself was just as stunning of a backdrop for their emotional first look. We were even able to find a gigantic tree covered with Spanish moss, which allowed for some swoon-worthy bridal party photos! While we snapped some photos after the ceremony, their guests were able to enjoy some outdoor games, including a huge Connect Four, giant Jenga, cornhole, and frisbee—what a treat! As if that wasn't special enough, their food was exceptional and definitely made everyone drool: Sugar B's catered a mac-and-cheese bar, taco bar, southern station, breakfast foods, s'mores and coffee, and an ice cream bar! Their wedding day was such an enjoyable event for all (even the vendors!) thanks to Mary Virginia and Langston's thoughtfulness. Take a look at their beautiful, sun-filled photos!
